No Worries Club Contest: Run Up & Rub Challenge

0327_05

Our next No Worries Club contest is all about the Intermediate exercise Run Up and Rub — we want to see how much crazy your horse can handle! Clinton includes the exercise in the Method to teach horses to accept being approached quickly and to respect humans but not fear them. Once your horse is confident about the exercise, he encourages you to be more creative in the ways you approach your horse to desensitize your horse as much as you possibly can. For this contest, you’ll take a short (no longer than 60 seconds) video of you practicing the exercise with your horse, showing us how well desensitized he is, and you could win one of three fun prizes!

Rules & How the Contest Will Work:

  1. Each member may enter one video in the contest.
  2. Take a video of you practicing the Run Up and Rub exercise with your horse. The video must be no longer than 60 seconds.
  3. Upload your video to YouTube. Make sure to set it as a public or unlisted video so we can all see it. Then email the video link to [email protected] by 5:00 p.m. CST Friday, April 20th. Submit only one video.
  4. In your email, include your first and last name and a little bit about your horse in the video – name, age, and breed and how long you’ve been practicing the Method with him/her.
  5. On Monday, April 23rd, we’ll post the videos on the No Worries Club website for members to vote on their favorite contestants.
  6. Winners of the contest will be announced on the No Worries Club website on Friday, April 27th.

Prizes:
1st place: Training Kit of your choice
2nd place: Mecate Set
3rd place: Halter and Lead Rope

If you need a reminder about what the Run Up and Rub exercise is, refer to the Intermediate Kit, or review the lesson here in the video library in the Testing the Intermediate series. Here’s Justin practicing the exercise with his horse, and here’s Blanka and her horse.

Have fun!
